Adam Smith (1723-1790)

Adam Smith was a philosopher and economist who is best known for his classic work “An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations” (1776). Before Adam Smith, there were other writers who expressed important Economic ideas but Economics as a distinct branch of knowledge started with Adam Smith’s “Wealth of Nations”. Therefore we call him Father of Economics.
